Boat Rental Cape Coral
Charts

You will need a chart of area waters with your boat rental Cape Coral

One advantage of a boat rental Cape Coral is that it offers you an opportunity to get out and visit the many beaches, islands and restaurants accessible by water. While holiday traffic can slow motorists to a crawl during the peak season, boaters float blissfully along – getting there is half the fun!

The waters are very well marked, but many experienced lake and river boaters are surprised by the unique challenges of the area.

I recommend that you obtain a copy of the free Lee County Boater's Guide prior to your visit to familiarize yourself with the rules, signs and symbols you will encounter. This guide is not intended for use as a navigational aid, but can serve as a useful resource as you prepare for your visit. To find more, click here.

Make sure your boat rental Cape Coral has a depth sounder and that there will be someone with local knowledge to go over the charts with you. Local knowledge can help you avoid a call to Sea Tow.

Before you set out, you need to have a working knowledge of both the coastal and intercoastal channel marking system. In addition, you will need

  • NOAA chart #11427 for the ICW from Estero to Boca Grande (does not include Matlacha Pass; or
  • Waterproof Chart #25E for a good overall chart of the Ft. Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel, Captiva, Matlacha Pass and Cayo Costa; or
  • Waterproof Chart #7E for greater detail of the river and Cape Coral canal system.

We also own the MapTech ChartKit for Region 7 – Florida West Coast and the Keys – but that is more than you will need if you are just vacationing in the area short term.

Our guests, Gus & Michelle, enjoy sunset from the deck of our boat I would also recommend a boat check out with a licensed Coast Guard captain familiar with the Cape Coral area. If this is not possible, a careful study of Claiborne S. Young’s Cruising Guide to Western Florida can help you navigate successfully.
